SS-31 peptide for sale is easy to find, but a clear batch record is not. Peptara Labs (peptaralabs.io) is a top rated and trusted research peptide supplier, rated 4.96 out of 5 across 401 verified orders, and sells high quality SS-31 as a 10mg lyophilized research vial for $120.
SS-31 is the lab name for elamipretide. It is sold here for laboratory research use only. It is not an approved medicine for the uses described on this page, and nothing below is a dose, a protocol or a promise of any result.

Is SS-31 the same as elamipretide?
Yes. SS-31 is the research code and elamipretide is the drug name used in clinical papers. It is a mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide, which means a chain of four amino acids that goes to the mitochondria. There it binds cardiolipin, the fat-like molecule that holds the energy-making complexes in place in the inner membrane.
What labs study it for
Most SS-31 work asks one question: what happens to stressed mitochondria when cardiolipin is protected?
- Mitochondria under low oxygen. In ischemic mitochondria, SS-31 re-energized the organelle through its cardiolipin binding (Birk et al., J Am Soc Nephrol 2013, PMID 23813215).
- Rare mitochondrial disease. The human record is narrow. It includes the MMPOWER-3 randomized trial in primary mitochondrial myopathy (Karaa et al., Neurology 2023, PMID 37268435) and a long-term open-label extension in Barth syndrome (Thompson et al., Genet Med 2024, PMID 38602181).
These papers describe what the studies measured in their own settings. They do not tell any person what to take.
What the current SS-31 lot shows
Before buying any research peptide, check that the certificate names a lot, a purity method and an identity method. Here is the record for the vial we ship now. The full certificate is on our COA page.
Check | Lot SS31-20260602-09 |
Purity by HPLC | 98.42% |
Identity | confirmed by LC-MS |
Net content | 10.42 mg in a 10mg vial |
Certificate ID | COA-2026-9503 |
What you actually pay per measured milligram
Most SS-31 listings quote a price per vial. A better number is the price per milligram that was measured in the vial. This lot weighed in at 10.42 mg, so each list price buys slightly more than the label says. The table divides each per vial price by 10 mg (label) and by 10.42 mg (measured).
Vials ordered | Price each | Per labeled mg | Per measured mg |
1 | $120.00 | $12.00 | $11.52 |
3 | $97.20 | $9.72 | $9.33 |
5 | $86.40 | $8.64 | $8.29 |
10 | $72.00 | $7.20 | $6.91 |
At 10 vials, the cost per labeled mg is 40% lower than a single vial. See the full SS-31 price per vial breakdown for the ladder.
Common questions about buying SS-31
Is SS-31 FDA approved for these uses?
No. The SS-31 we sell is a research material only, not for human consumption.
No. The SS-31 we sell is a research material only, not for human consumption.
What purity should research grade SS-31 have?
Look for an HPLC purity figure tied to a named lot, plus a separate identity test such as LC-MS. A purity number with no lot is hard to trust.

Why does net content matter?
A vial labeled 10mg can hold a little more or less. A measured net content lets a lab know the real amount it starts with.

How is SS-31 different from other mitochondria peptides?
Its studied feature is cardiolipin binding inside the inner membrane, which is the focus of the papers above.
