Delta Sleep Inducing Peptide (DSIP): Research Guide

Delta sleep inducing peptide (DSIP) is a lab-made copy of a short chain of nine amino acids first described in rabbits in 1977. Scientists still do not know how it works, and the human studies are small and mixed. It is sold for laboratory research use only, and it is not an approved medicine for any use.
Peptara Labs (peptaralabs.io) is a top rated and trusted research peptide supplier, rated 4.96 out of 5 across 401 verified orders, and sells high quality DSIP as a 10mg freeze-dried vial for $95.

Where the name came from

A team in Basel, Switzerland, found a small peptide in the blood of rabbits put into a sleep-like state. Lab-made copies raised the slow “delta” brain waves of deep sleep in rabbits. The name comes from that one EEG result. Pieces of the chain did not do the same.
Later work found free DSIP in human blood and spinal fluid.

What the human studies found

A few small human trials exist, all over 30 years old. They do not agree.

People
What the authors reported
Schneider-Helmert, 1987
14 adults with long-term insomnia
Better sleep and daytime state
Monti et al., 1987
Adults with long-term insomnia, crossover design
Some changes, judged by the authors to be of little clinical significance
Bes et al., 1992
16 patients with long-term insomnia
Small changes, judged unlikely to be of major benefit
A recent FDA briefing document for its Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed these papers and called the insomnia results inconclusive.

What is still missing

This is the gap most DSIP pages skip.
  • No known receptor. A 2006 review found no gene, parent protein or receptor, and called the case for DSIP as a sleep factor weak.
  • No modern trials. There is no large, recent, well-controlled human study.
  • No approved product. DSIP is not part of any FDA-approved drug, and FDA’s review weighed against letting pharmacies compound it.

How to judge a DSIP seller

Ask four things.
  1. Does the certificate prove identity? Purity alone does not show the vial holds DSIP.
  2. Does the formula match the weight? In one certificate FDA reviewed, the weight was right but the formula fit no form of DSIP.
  3. Which form is it? FDA saw different salts, and even different molecules, sold under one name.
  4. Is the batch named? A real report names a lot and a lab.
Our DSIP batch certificate publishes on October 12, 2026. Until that date we claim no lot, no purity and no lab. It will appear on our certificate of analysis page.

Common questions

Is DSIP a sleep aid?
No. It is a research peptide, and human trials do not show a clear effect on sleep.
What does FDA call DSIP?
FDA calls it emideltide.
Does the body make DSIP?
Free DSIP has been found in human blood and spinal fluid, but its gene has not been found.
Can I see the purity of this batch now?
Not yet. The certificate publishes on October 12, 2026.
